Heatstroke of a worker on a highway. A case report
Authors describe a case of a heat stroke with lethal outcome of a workman on a highway. Heat stroke is a condition that happens because of overexposure to sun and high humidity, without adequate body protection, and inadequate liquid consumption. Workmen doing their job in the described conditions are particularly exposed to this condition. In this paper, a case of 37-year old workman that got ill on his job and was taken to ER where he died despite the proper medical intervention, is described. Symptoms he was brought with were the symptoms of a heat stroke: general bad condition, dizzyness that progrediated to coma, high temperature and neck cramp. Autopsy findings are non-specific in such cases and by themselves could not be the basis to establish the cause of death from heat stroke. Because of that it is most important to know well and complete the circumstances of the case. Direct sun exposure should be avoided in specific weather and conditions. If it could not be avoidedm adequate protection should be used.
