Assesment of Human Responses under Intense Physical Activity by Means of Thermography
Infrared thermography is the method that uses an infrared imaging and measurement camera to "see" and "measure" thermal energy emitted from an object. Nowdays, it has become a powerful tool for basic and applied scientific research, as well as for the application in various fields. In the field of textile engineering, the thermography is used for investigation of insulation properties of materials, evaluation of comfort, garment fit to the body, damages on the surface of textile materials, electroconductivity properties of textile materials, etc. In our research, thermography is used to determine the areas of intensive sweating wearing different clothing ensembles. The results of thermographic assessment of skin and garment temperatures for a volunteer performing physical activity give possibility to determine complex distribution patterns that are associated with the regions of intensive sweating. The findings should be considered in the design of new systems to facilitate the evaporative cooling.
