SPORTS EVENT LOGISTICS IN TOURISM

Due to the competitive surroundings characterized by development, variety of discoveries, revolutions, different field innovation and achievements, tourist destination needs to follow the trend. Its success relies on the adjustment ability and velocity, as well as the apprehension of future trend in the market demand of educated, inquisitive tourist dealing with specific interest whose requirements should be met in the best possible way. It is the optimization of all flows involved in the time and space transformation, aiming towards desired quality level service, with minimum cost, that is the object of logistics in tourism. Event organization has to involve all participants and their relationships, while aggravated by flow multiplication in limited space and in short period of time. This paper aims to depict logistics of a sporting event, identifying the types of logistic flows in the event organization. Those require coordination and firm leadership toward planned goals. The purpose is to demonstrate how the quality of an event of this kind, derives from the level of logistic concept application. Event quality realization influences the tourism destination offer – as the main attraction factor for the tourists of specific interests, or as the additional attraction for those that arrived for other motives. This paper demonstrates the foresaid on the real example - a sport event organized in Kvarner region, whose organization involves different stakeholders.
