Standardization of 3d models creation procedures in computer graphics

Three-dimensional graphic models are widely used and therefore set high requirements for 3D model creation. The 3D graphic programs used are highly specialized and commercial. 3D models of space and objects are generated using 3D scanning. Collection of data on space or objects creates a point cloud which creates the 3D model. Active and passive 3D scanners are used. Active scanners are widely used in creation of 3D models. The most important technologies are photogrammetric and laser - - LIDAR technology. There are pulse laser scanners, phase laser scanners and optical scanners. Each of them has its own, special 3D graphic programs. Their compatibility with commercial 3D graphic programs such as Autodesk Maya, 3d studio MAX, Auto CAD is very important and so is their ability of converting own graphic formats into generally accepted 3D formats. The paper analyses and compares features of individual inscription formats. Analysed are formats recognized by all graphic programs. Special emphasis is given to the .OBJ geometric format as the input and output format of all 3D model generation programs.
