Injection moulding and recycling of wood-thermoplastic composites
Composites with natural fibres are among the most rapidly growing areas within the plastics industry. They are manufactured by combining either wood or other natural fibres such as flax, hemp, jute or kenaf with polymers. The resulting composite can be easily processed into various shapes and can be recycled. EUREKA project E! 2819 FACTORY ECOPLAST combined natural fibres with thermoplastics to create new recyclable compounds for consumer products and audio components. A study on mechanical recycling of wood-polypropylene composite was performed and its heating value was determined.
