Surgical treatment of scrotal abscess in bull
A 10 month old Simmental bull, with wound on the right side of scrotum was presented. Although antibiotics were administered for 14 days prior the admission of the patient trias was altered. The entire scrotum was swelled coated by grayish pseudomembranes of necrotic epithelium and fibrin was obserwed in right lateroventral portio. The swelling was hot and painful on palpation. Described data enabled us to make descission of preforming the total scrotal ablation.Biochemical findings obserwed after the surgery was performed and tissue specimen were taken, confirmed the reasonable doubt in possible occurance of endotoxoemia and choosing the method of the total scrotal ablation. The goal of choosing this castration technique was to prevent the influence of probable resorbed necrotical tissue on the vital status of patient.
