Visualization of complex civil engineering structures
Civil engineering is a broad discipline traditionally oriented on visualization. By visualization we assume graphical presentation of natural phenomena like terrain and watercourses, as well as large man-made structures. Also, connected with civil engineering is visualization in mathematical models and presentation of results. This work starts with visualization of terrain and corresponding watercourse from geodesic data. Follows presentation of finite element computer models of large engineering structures. There is a short description of microplane material model used in the analysis of the large concrete structures (the so called “quasi-brittle materials”). Some aspects of presentation of calculation results are briefly addressed. Then there are visualizations related to the complicated contact problem in structural engineering. At the end there is a short presentation of author’s original method for visualization of implicit mathematical functions. Almost all of these problems could be considered for transferring to the grid for improved performance.
