RESEARCH ON SPACE WEATHER EFFECTS ON GNSS PERFORMANCE IN CROATIA
Space weather and ionospheric effects have been recognised as a major source of the GNSS performance disruptions. With numerous systems and services fall under the risk of being affected by GNSS service disruptions caused by space weather and ionospheric disturbances. Croatia is a country with numerous segments of national economy increasingly dependent on robust and sustained GNSS performance: maritime, air and road traffic, tourism, agriculture and personal navigation services are among the most affected. In due course, a research activity has recently started in Croatia with the aim of assessment of space weather and local ionospheric effects on the GNSS performance in Croatia. Recent results of this activity is presented in this paper, with the emphasis on observed patterns of local GPS ionospheric delay and the development of Northern Adriatic GPS ionospheric delay model.
