Conducting electronic business in Croatian hotels
In the last decade, an entirely new situation has characterized the international tourist market. The globalization of world tourism, as well as the hotel industry, is making development more dynamic and intensifying global competition. In response to rising competition, hotel managements need to develop new groups of hotel services and focus their offering on specific segments of the tourist market. It follows that the market segmentation of the tourist market is reflected in organizational segmentation. Today, changing a traditional organization into a modern organization is one of the greatest challenges facing hotel management. By using the e-Business model and focusing on the development of business processes, the job of management will become more successful, particularly when the organizational implications that this brings in its wake are considered. Electronic data exchange and electronic transactions are poorly developed in Croatian hotels. The present condition points to a lack of connectedness and coordination within the supply chain, and to market reporting that is inadequately organized. What hotels in Croatia need to do is shift the focus of business from internal processes and business efficiency to the entire value chain and, foremost, to guests/consumers and guest/consumer oriented processes, while effectively applying modern information and communication technologies.
