Additional Geophysical Procedure in Field Development: An Example from Lipovljani Oil Field
Except 2D and 3D seismic procedure there are plenty of geophysical methods increasing probability of new positive wells. In the same time, they give an opportunity of controlling production through space and knowing precise reservoir saturation due to registered s waves. These geophysical methods including 4D seismic Far offset VSP and Crosswell seismic (tomography). In this paper we will try to elaborate need of additional geophysical procedure, especially comparing their very low price in relation to drilling itself, and increase probability of successive well. One of them, Crosswell seismic is a technology used in field development, giving much detailed and accurate picture of reservoir structure and their features. It is ideal for repeated recording (4D) and saturation control. It is also used in the case when conventional methods haven’t result as well. (as expected). 3D seismic (p waves) is mainly use as a tool in explorations and crosswell seismic (p and s waves) considered be a development tool, focused directly to a reservoir interval, with vertical resolution ranges from 1 to 5 meters. By recording of crosswell seismic profile on the northern part of Lipovljani oil filed, few benefits will take a part. First, view of technology application in sand reservoirs, then recognizing of reservoir geometry, followed by revision of geological picture, especially tectonic elements, and finally accepting anisotropy changes inside the reservoir.
