A Communication Model for Multi-Service Photonic Network

The article proposes a transport entity hierarchy for the multi-service photonic network employing optical circuit and optical packet switching. Transport entities enable full communication description which associates the logical level to the used physical equipment. Transport entities include the primary communication description along with the description of the spare communication which will be used during the primary communication failure. The description of transport entities can be given in a form of logical expressions which can be used for communication availability calculation.
