Contemporary Geopolitical Position of the Republic of Croatia
Geopolitical position is one of the most important geopolitical cathegories. Geopolitical position was always significantly responsible for Croatia's position in the international community. The factors that determine Croatia's geopolitical position are following: geographical factors, global geopolitical structures, political situation in Croatia's neighborhood, and political situation in Croatia. Since Croatia gained independence, we can explore Croatia's geopolitical position independently. After the year 2000., significant changes occured in Croatia and in the South Eastern Europe. Today, Croatia is still torn between the South Eastern Europe i. e. The Balkans that represent recent history, and Europe that represents future. The European Union and NATO are the two most important pillars of European prosperity and Euroatlantic security that Croatia is trying to enter, and is trying to do so strongly and rapidly, which represents a change compared to the recent history.
