How much is control of blood pressure in patients after kidney transplantation adequate?
Patients with transplanted kidney often have high blood pressure. 141 consecutive patients (median age 44, range 18-70 years, 82M/59F, 98 with a transplanted kidney and 43 with kidney and pancreas transplant) have been evaluated for control of blood pressure after transplantation. The results show a high incidence of arterial hypertension in patients after kidney transplantation which is in line with results from other published studies. The satisfactory blood pressure values were obtained in 69% of our patients. Post-transplant hypertension appears to be a major risk factor for graft and patient survival.
