The effect of fertilization system on Fe, Mn and Zn contents in soil and maize plant
The paper presents research results on the effect of fertilization system on Fe, Mn and Zn contents in soil and maize plant. The obtained results showed that Fe and Mn contents significantly increased with decreasing soil pH and increasing nitrogen fertilization rates and particularly with periodic application of higher potassium chloride and superphosphate rates, whereas the available Zn content considerably decreased in all fertilization treatments as compared to the control. The solubility of the examined trace elements was higher in the soil surface layer than in the arable layer. P fertilization induced a reduction in kernel Fe concentration in maize as well as a general increase in Mn and Zn concentrations.
