Sažetak
ABB Corporate Research has proposed a new gearbox concept which shall be less expensive than gears used today. The main goal of the project is to evaluate the potential of this gearbox concept which is called Magnetic Harmonic Traction Drive (MHTD). Its working mechanism is based on the principles of harmonic drive gears but instead of an elliptic wave generator the new gear uses magnets. Traction is used as replacement for the gear teeth to transfer torque. The project is divided into two thesis works. The first one is responsible for magnetic simulation and finite element analysis of the gearbox. The major task of this work is the design and construction of a gear prototype suitable for the use in robotic applications. To support this process several experiments including the redesign of a proof-of-principle demonstrator are performed. Starting with an integration concept of a servomotor system further main tasks of the design and construction work are to find suitable solutions and mechanisms for the main components. After completing the design stage 2D drawings are created and the production of all manufactured parts is overseen. Once all parts are manufactured the gearbox is assembled including the set up of a motor and controller system to be able to run and evaluate the new gear concept. In the end a working Magnetic Harmonic Traction Drive prototype is presented.
