British vs American English
The thesis deals with British and American English, two most significant varieties of the language nowadays considered as the most important. Among other things, it examines different circumstances, i.e. the major events in the history of their divergence, which accounted for them becoming two distinct entities. Futhermore, it explores some of the differences they display in certain aspects of language, such as grammar, lexis or spelling, and finally, it contains an analysis which, based on a limited corpus, tests the hypothesis that the variation they display is not stable in different language styles.
