Students’ opinions on the medical ethics course in the medical school curriculum
Authors start from the dilemma on which way to teach medical students professional ethics (a special subject or the content integrated in all the curriculum subjects during the medicine studies). According to the literature review they identified very different experiences in medical schools around the world and they made a research in Zagreb Medical School with the main aim to determine the students' opinions and believes. After three years of experience with the introduction of medical ethics as a separate subject on the final year, while maintaing the traditionally integrated contents in other subjects, the research results revealed that 55% of students think that the new (separate) subject is not important. Medical students prefer the integration of ethical contents in all curriculum subjects ; during bed side learning and medical doctor clinician teacher and to a much lesser degree separated training units and other expert teachers outside of medicine.
