Efficacy of the educational programme in basic and advanced life support of medical professionals in Croatia
Resuscitation guidelines are being published since 1974, newest are due in 2010. In Croatia, there were no standards for clinical practice and education in basic and advanced life support for medical professionals (doctors and nurses) until 2002, when Croatian Resuscitation Council has been established (picture 1). Between April 2002 and May 2009, 77 European Resuscitation Council (ERC) educational courses (50 Advanced Life Support-ALS, 17 European Paediatric Life Support-EPLS, and 10 Generic Instructor Course-GIC) have taken place in 8 educational centres in Croatia (picture 2). Purpose of the study: 1) Analyze demographic and professional characteristics of candidates at ERC ALS, EPLS and GIC courses in Croatia 2) Analyze factors that influenced course attendance - motivation, attitudes and satisfaction 3) Survey the opinion about the quality of such educational programme and its applicability for medical professionals in Croatia.
