Intercultural Competence and Sensitivity from Students’ Viewpoint

This research was designed to analyze knowledge and awareness on interculturalism among students, their perspective on what constitutes the aim of intercultural education, the level of intercultural sensitivity as well as required teachers’ intercultural competence for teaching in a multicultural classroom from students’ viewpoint. Research was carried out on a sample of 304 students from the University of Pula and Rijeka. The results showed that students have basic knowledge on the main topics in the field of intercultural education, positive attitudes regarding key intercultural competence required for teaching in a multicultural classroom and a satisfactory level of intercultural sensitivity.
