Chaotic dynamics of some selected hamiltonian systems
Two classes of lemon shaped billiards are investigated. Classical dynamics of these systems exhibits the mixed behavior. Level density fluctuations in the quantal spectrum are analyzed. The validity of the Bohigas-Giannoni-Schmidt conjecture for these systems is tested by comparing classical and quantal measures of chaos. A gravitationally driven Fermi oscillator is presented and discussed as a useful didactic example for chaotic behavior.
