Methods of testing for Fusarium resistance in wheat
Fusarium head blight (FHB) is economically one of the most serious fungal diseases of wheat. The aim of this paper is to show some basic requirements for a successful resistance program. In this paper testing for Type I resistance (resistance against initial infection), Type II resistance (resistance against spreading), Type III resistance (DON resistance) and general FHB resistance will be presented. The genotypes Sirban Prolifik, Divana, Renan and U1 showed the highest resistance levels against initial infection. The highest general resistance levels were detected in the genotypes Sirban Prolifik, Renan, Divana and Soissons. The highest resistance for FHB spreading had: E2-1T, Libellula, Felix and Srpanjka. The most DON resistant genotypes were: E2-1T, Divana, Alka and Renata.
