Catalytic removal of NO: the effect of Cu loading and type of binder on catalytic properties of Cu/ZSM-5 catalyst

Catalytic decomposition of NO over Cu/ZSM-5 catalysts has been carried out in a tubular fixed-bed reactor at atmospheric pressure. The influence of the catalyst composition on its physical-chemical and catalytic properties has been investigated. An optimal content of copper at wich Cu/ZSM-5 catalyst demonstrated maximum activity has been established. It has been found that catalyst activity increased with the increase in Si/Al ration or with the decrease in aluminium content over zeolite. The addition of binders, such as MgO, ZnO, AlF_3 and Na-silicate changed physical properties of the catalyst and at same time facilitated shaping of the catalyst during the preparation step.
