ITS Advantages in Maritime Traffic - Enhanced Solutions

Nowadays, in the time of exponential development of global communication systems, navigational systems and transportation technologies, with accent on maritime traffic, appears the need for standardisation and unitisation of all relevant components on sea vessels. The aim of proposed paper is to improve safety, efficiency and reliability of maritime transportation, either on merchant and passenger ships, showing the importance of advanced navigation and integration of all subsystems located on the navigational bridge. The paper also deals with ITS implementation and use in sea transport, integrating existing components, such as ISC (Integrated Ship Control), with enhanced maritime systems, essentialy for sea navigation.
