Myopericaritis and pneumonitis in patient with ulcerative colitis
We presented a case of 19-year old Caucasian boy who was transferred to our hospital from KBC Rebro as a possible coagulase negative staphylococcus (CoNS) sepsis. He has partial motor epilepsy and was diagnosed for ulcerative colitis 3 weeks ago and is taking valproat, lamotrigin and mesalamine. They had begun treatment with flucloxacillin, ciprofloxacin, gentamycin because of the CoNS and enoxaparin and clopidogrel because of the suspicion of NSTEMI. He was transferred to our hospital because his condition was getting worse despite the treatment. As a result of our workup we fount ST-elevation V2-V3, mild diastolic dysfunction due to pericarditis. CT scan thorax showed: diffusely diminished translucency bilaterally ; differential: pneumonitis? Conclusion: It was a case of myopericarditis and pneumonitis in young patient with newly diagnosed ulcerative colitis due to mesalamine use which we confirmed by halting mesalamine what lead to amelioration.
