A Theoretical Approach to the Changes in the Retail Store Forms in Croatia
In an analysis of changes in retail sale in Croatia, we have started from the growth in retail sale and analyzed its development in the sense of qualitative changes—the changes in its form. The growth analysis is performed based upon indices pertaining to a physical capacity of the turnover realized, number of stores, capacity size and number of employees, while the development is analyzed based upon the indices pertaining to certain changes in the realized turnover structure, commercial economic entities’ structure and their cooperative formations according to their size, store type structure, and the like. For the explanation of changes in the retail sale forms, various conceptions have been developed, altough certain authors call them „theories, “ „models“ and „hypotheses.“ By virtue of their analysis, created is a framework for excogitation and selection of research instruments for development analysis and setup of future development strategy. Starting from certain conceptions for the explanantion of retail form changes, usage of disposable statistic material, and proper notes on the example of the Republic of Croatia, the paper signifies a developmental pathway passed and the possible future development directions.
