Regression Models For Assessment of Assortments Volume Development of the Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur L.).

Researching the assortments structure of the pedunculate oak was undertaken in the framework of the "Economic-ecological valency of forest rypes" project. This project was financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology from 1991 to 1995. The area researched was the ecological-managerial forest type (EGT) II-G-10 (Cestar 1974). The aim of the research was to examine the regularity of dthe development in the volume of certain assortments and the total amount of useful timber taking into consideration the breast height diameter and the age of the stand. This was undertaken so as to determine an estimation model for normal quality modelled stands as monitored through the EGT. The normal quality is defined by a regresion models for the estimation of the volume development of certain assortments. The chosen most effective regression function was Curtis (Curtis 1967) and the parameters of certain models were established. Defined models, i.e. normal quality pedunculate oaks in EGT II-G-10, can be used to measure the quality of the researched EGT. The Curtis function, as a common model, can aid in defining the model`s parameters for any definite stand, or assist in predicting the development and production of timber either in the short or long term.
