New Complexes of Copper(II) with 1-Aminocyclopropane-1-Carboxylic Acid
By using the molecules of urea we have succeeded to interfere with molecular self-assembly and to prevent the formation of the trimeric moieties. One molecule of urea substitutes water molecules apicaly bonded to the copper(II) atom of the central trans moiety of the trimer and, together with the cocrystalized urea molecule, steers the self-assembly of the monomeric trans-Cu(acc)2 units by forming an extensive hydrogen bonding network. Water molecules of crystallisation serve as hydrogen-bonding bridges between coordinated and cocrystalized urea molecules.
