Pig slaughter values according to the S-Europ commercial classes (level of meatness)
According to the S-EUROP commercial classes (levels of metness of pig carcasses) slaught value of pig carcass was tested on a genotype. Pig carcasses of an identical generic background, but of various commercial classes (different levels of meatness) differed in quality signs (fat thickness, ham measure, area of MLD), conformation, tissue share in the main parts and and the quality of muscle tissue. With regard to both the above said and possible differences in distribution according to the classes, pig carcass of various genetic backgrounds may have different market and consumption value.
