Influence of national assessment on the Self- evaluation process in secondary schools in Croatia
First National assessment in Croatia was conducted in May 2006 in 1st grade gymnasium program schools. Schools received feedback in a form of analysis presenting examination results for each grade within the school, and for each student in every subject. Additionally, schools received the results of the background questionnaires where the students answered questions about the popularity of the subject, teaching methods, curriculum and ctr. All of these results were used for the school self- evaluation process, the first of that kind in all schools in Croatian educational system in school year 2007/2008. This paper presents the role of previously mentioned results in the process of self-evaluation, construction of the school development plans, influence of that process on schools and the importance of the school Team for quality assurance. Emphasis of the paper is the importance of the process that was the beginning of the implementation of school self-evaluation in the Croatian educational system. Conclusions based on the analysis of the self-evaluation reports as well as the guidelines for the quality improvement in Croatian educational system will also be presented.
