Evaluation of tourist attractions from market point of view

The future competitiveness of Croatia in the international market will largely depend on the level and speed at which Croatia can adopt new marketing and management instruments. In this respect, destination strategic tourism marketing plans have appeared as a relatively new planning instrument. From the purpose of marketing evaluation of tourist attractions it was necessary to develop a new methodology that could be easily implemented. In this paper, authors identified any explained two main criteria used - category of attraction and level of tourism equipment. The applicability of this methodology is illustrated with tables and maps developed for two Croatian counties. Except the use of this methodology in developing tourism marketing plan on country level, the authors stressed its applicability on the local and national level and as useful tool in comparative analysis of tourism destinations.
