The distribution of the development of some motor abilities in preschool boys who participated in a three-year preschool sports programme
Up to now it has been a generally known fact that sports activities and exercise are an important part of everyday life. Also, it does not apply only to the adult population but also to children from their earliest age. Therefore, there are some preschool institutions with integrated sports programme where children after turning four are included in the systematic, planned and programmed process of training. One of the goals of that programme is to affect the development of motor abilities of boys and girls through appropriate game based sports activities and exercise. The aim of this research is to monitor the distribution of the development of basic motor abilities in boys who were involved in the everyday preschool sports programme since 2006 until 2009, i.e. from fourth to sixth year of life. The research included a sample of 23 boys who attended the programme four times a week, for one hour over a period of three years, and were present at the initial, transition and final measurements. The variables were chosen from three standard tests for evaluation of the basic motor abilities (strength, agility, endurance) of preschool children. Collected data were processed according to software package Statistics for Windows 7.0. The polynomial regression analysis of II degree was used for establishing the distribution of development of motor abilities. The obtained results showed that the boys who participated in preschool sports programme have positive trend of development of motor abilities.
