Free time activities of youth are a very important component in the social and mental development of children and young people. The aim of this study was to determine the ways in which pupils in Petrinja district spend their free time, and whether the activities differed statistically significantly across sexes. The sample was comprised of 316 pupils in the fifth through eighth grades of primary school. For the purpose of the study, a questionnaire composed of 40 questions was administered to the pupils who had to identify the amount of contents of their free time, as well as to determine the activities they performed in their free time. The results revealed that in their free time, the pupils preferred listening to music, watching TV or recorded programs, followed by helping their parents in doing chores.
