Impact of rootstock on agronomic performance and fruit composition of cv. Istrian Malvasia (Vitis vinifera L.)
The choice of rootstock is fundamental for the achievement of good results in viticulture production. The impact of 1103P, SO4 and 420A rootstocks on agronomic performance and fruit composition of cv. Istrian Malvasia (Vitis vinifera L.) was investigated in this study. Higher yield, higher number of shoots and clusters per vine, and higher leaf area resulted in Istrian Malvasia vines grafted on 1103P rootstock in comparison to SO4 rootstock, indicating higher vigor of 1103P rootstock. No differences in fruit composition were observed. Obtained results demonstrated that rootstocks can effectively be used in order to achieve desirable productive characteristics of the scion variety.
