Alge Bizovačkih toplica
According to balneological classification the thermal waters from two sources in Bizovac belong to mineral iodine, fluorine, sodium hydrocarbonic salt water, and to mineral, iodine, chlorine salt water. The water temperature at the sources is 84-90 °C, so according to Vouk's classification they belong to hypethermalsprings. The first algological investigation was initiated in the spring of 1985 and it went on to the spring of 1988. The results of these investigations (at 5 localities with the water coming from the hot springs and at one locality with mixed thermal water and natural water from the canal) gave a total of 24 of algae: 9 taxa from the group of Euglenophyta, and 12 taxa from the group of Bacillariophyceae. At the localities with natural termal water only the representatives from the group of Cyanophyta (74 taxa) were found, and the taxon of Cyanophyta I (Chroococcus sp.) was found even at the temperature of 72 °C. Cosmopolitan species Phormidium laminosum was established at the temperature of 58 °C. At the locality with mixed water and with the temperature of 32-42 °C, the qualitative composition of the community of algae was found to be by 81 % richer then at the locality with natural thermal water. The identified of algae could be classed among the following ecological groups: thermobiontic, thermophylic, and termotolerant organisms.
