Microprocessor-based control system for the traction applications
The microprocessor-based control system designed for modernization of existing diode locomotives is presented in this paper. The system enables the implementation of all necessary control, regulation, sequencing, protection, supervision and communication tasks. All major functions are implemented in software by means of a user-oriented programming language, based on block diagrams. The system is based on one or more VMEbus central processing units. Most protection functions are redundant i.e. they are implemented both in software and hardware. After successful prototype testing, the system is now in regular production.
