Detection ofF CWEDM process irregularity with discharge pulses monitoring

Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) is a thermoelectric process that erodes workpiece material by a series of discrete electrical sparks between the workpiece and travelling wire electrode. It can be used in production of parts from electrical conductive materials, which are difficult to machine by conventional cutting methods. In combination with submerged rotation spindle, cylindrical parts can be produced with high L/D geometry aspects. In this paper, main restrictive phenomena for increasing of process speed have been shown. The process parameters are listed which value change can improve stability of process. Early detection of process irregularity has been done by electric pulse monitoring. Conclusion has been made about role of machine servo feed on process stability, together with influence of process parameters on irregularity phenomena.
