Severity of acute pancreatitis - is there a relationship with age?

Introduction: The influence of age on the course of acute pancreatitis (AP) is still a matter of discussion. Objectives: We evaluated correlation of age with single biochemical markers such as IL-6, sTNFalfa-RI, complex scoring systems (Ranson, APACHE II), and imaging scoring method (CTSI) in AP. We also analyzed if there was a significant correlation in age between the groups of patients who developed systemic complications and those who did not.
