Ship equipment proposal for metal elements control
With the objective for more efficient sea pollution prevention, the authors suggest to improve existing surveillance upon various parameters, by additional control against metal elements pollution. At present, there exist no requirements, nor equipment onboard ships as to monitor and/or control of metals within ship effluents to sea. For the purpose of measuring metals in such liquids, a spectroscopy of characteristic X-rays method is proposed and elaborated. As to enable its application onboard ships, the design of new equipment arrangement, which should include suitable measuring and control devices, is proposed. As prerequisites for installation of such equipment, it is suggested to fulfil present conventions and legislation concerning sea protection with articles that will require such an arrangement as mandatory.
