EAI issues and best practices
Almost every enterprise relies on IT as a backbone of its operations. Achieving business goals becomes extremely dependent on IT and it's ability to adapt. As enterprises evolved, their information systems grew in complexity and diversity. The inability to build an information system from scratch forced enterprises to see integration as the alternative solution that will deliver increased quality of the system and consequently competitiveness of the organization. The goal of enterprise integration is to provide timely and accurate exchange of consistent information between business functions to support business goals in a way that appears to be seamless. Overambitious or ambiguous demands that result in inadequate integration project plans always lead to problems. This paper will try to analyze the most common pitfalls in enterprise IT integration and propose prevention guidelines.
