Learning through the Internet or Traditional Learning?
Croatian universities are facing new tasks which require students to be competent for life in the modern society as well as the realisation of the Croatian economy’ s various requirements. The changes are directed towards the reorganisation of the education itself. Actually, the modern education often implies different ways of electronic learning, namely “ learning through the internet” so it is important to implement this form of learning into the higher education. The aim of this study is to see what the students’ attitudes towards learning through the Internet are in comparison with the traditional learning. The study of the students’ perception and attitudes towards learning through the Internet has been conducted with the students of the social and natural sciences faculties of the J. J. Strossmayer University in Osijek. The study tasks were to establish what the students’ attitudes towards learning through the internet are, to see how the students perceive learning through the Internet and how they perceive traditional classroom learning. A questionnaire has been applied with multiple choice questions and the Likert type scales. The answers have been analysed on the basis of the obtained results with regard to the present education, and with regard to learning through the Internet. Furthermore, directives have been recommended for the implementation of other forms of learning into the universities in the Republic of Croatia.
