Perspectives of heritage tourism development in Croatia
In post-industrial development society tourist demands are becoming more and more prominent and are starting to be more equal to existent ones creating socio-economic and spatial phenomena of our time. Contemporary tourist flows are characterised by moderate but constant increase of number of tourists, segmentation of tourist demands as well as redistribution of tourist flows to the less saturated areas. These trends are followed by decline from mass tourism, which dominated during 1970's and 1980's to the various forms of alternative tourism. One of the alternative tourism's forms is heritage tourism, which is based on valorisation of cultural and natural wealth and its implementation in the tourist purpose. Long-term forecasts on tourist demands point out that some forms of alternative tourism are in the phase of increase. Such trends are expected to be detained until the end of this century.
