Prevalence of asymptomatic nephrolithiasis in managerial population in Osijek
Introduction: The quality of diet and healthy eating habits are very important in the etiology of nephrolithiasis. Managers are mostly having irregular and uneven meal pattems. Majority of companies stiH does not have a planned approach toward the diet of their employees, which would include sp are time for lunch and an accessible restaurant with adequate offering. Aim: To discover the prevalence of asymptomatic nephrolithiasis in the manageriai population and to compare it with the prevalence in the general population. Methods: Managers perform regular preventive systematic checkups which include ultrasonographic examination of upper urinary tract. Data from 703 examined managers (411 men and 292 women) was compared with the data recieved from the exams of 705 people from the control group (413 men and 292 women), which are not managers. Resuits: Ultrasonographic examinations of 703 managers showed asymptomatic nephrolithiasis in 39 cases (5.55%), of those 29 were in men (7, 05%) and 10 were in women (3, 42%). In general population prevalence in 705 examinees was 3, 92% (5, 21% for men and 2, 12% for women). Conclusion: Manageriai profession is bound with stressful situations and the inability of having a regular and balanced diet. Along with other characteristicsof the manageriai profession, stress and irregular diet significantly contribute in increasing the prevalence of asymptomatic nephrolithiasis.
