Sažetak
Application of flow cytometry has increasing importance in modern veterinary medicine. It is used today mostly in hematology and immunology, although its application is much wider: molecular genetic, citogenetics, biochemistry, intern medicine, microbiology, pathology, toxicology. Main areas of application of this method in contemporary hematology are phenotype and functional analyses of blood cells. With this method data can be acquired about relative and absolute number of cells in specific cell line or sub population of cells of leukocyte population. Introducing flow cytometry in routine blood tests instead of present blood smears could speed the process significantly. Flow cytometry is objective method of high sensitivity and high speed of analysis.Goals of this research are to determine participation of subpopulations in pigs during suckling period, and to present flow cytometry methods to clinic veterinary practice.
