Cardiovascular response at rest and exercise to long-term correction of anemia with recombinant human erythropoitin in hemodialysis patients assessed by radionuclide ventriculography

Left ventricular performance and exercise capacity were evaluated with equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography in 15 patients(7 male, 8 female, mean age 37+/-10 years) with severe renal anemia (Hct<0, 25) and having regular hemodialysis (duration 4, 9+/-3 years) on three occasions:1.before recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) therapy 2.at the time when target hemoglobin(Hb) reached 100g/l 3.after 12 months of therapy.
