Sažetak
Using the SCALE-4 code package we have analyzed double tiering as an option of the NPP Krško spent fuel pool capacity increase. Both, criticality of the spent fuel pool expressed through multiplication factor value, as well as the gamma and neutron dose rates in the vicinity of the spent fuel pool have been calculated and compared to the values of the existing spent fuel pool. Dose rates are also compared to dose limit in 10 CFR 20 for the restricted work area, and effective multiplication factor is compared to ANSI/ANS 57.2-1983 demand. Our analyses showed that from the criticality and dose rate standpoint, double tiering is an open option for NPP Krško spent fuel pool capacity increase. However, final decision on the effectiveness of the capacity increase method, can not be given without detailed thermal-hydraulic, static, economic and seismic analyses.
