Sažetak
INTRODUCTION: Surrogate markers and parameters values considered as risk factors for coronary artery diseases are well known. Endothelial function and arterial elastic properties reflect the changes in vessel wall structure even before morphological changes and could present the new markers for severity of cardiovascular and coronary artery disease. AIM The goal of this research is to determine the relationship between severity of coronary artery disease and the parameters used in evaluating the arterial elasticity in healthy population (randomly chosen – control group) and in group of patients with confirmed coronary artery disease. METHODS: The investigation included 49 individuals(20 healthy volunteers and 29 coronary patients The patients suffered from angina were submitted to coronary angiography and according to the findings and severity of coronary artery diseases four groups were created. Asymptomatic healthy individuals named group 1, chosen as control group was not submitted to coronary angiography because of ethical reasons. 1) Group 1 – healthy individuals 2) Group 2 – one artery occluded* 3) Group 3 – two artery occluded* 4) Group 4 – three artery occluded* *every stenosis greater than than 50% of the vessel is considered to be significant All subjects underwent carotid duplex by using ALOKA α 100 ultrasound and the linear probe (10-12MHz).. The e-tracking method was used to specifically determine the parameters of arterial elasticity. The research was The measurements were performed on the common carotid artery, 1one to two centimeters before the bifurcation. The parameters measured were: β index , augmentation index(AI) and the speed of the pulse wave progression (PWV) were measured as the parameters of arterial elastic properties. RESULTS: The average age was 28.62± 9.51 years for healthy individual and for coronary patients 61.5± 8.06 years.
