Indentification of the most influential parameters on cylindrical wire EDM process : review

Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM), as a thermoelectric process that erodes workpiece material can be used in production of parts from electrical conductive materials, which are difficult to machine by conventional cutting methods. In combination with submerged rotation spindle, cylindrical parts can be produced with high L/D geometry aspects. In this paper, literature review is given about main characteristics, performances, application fields and conducted experiments. Literature investigation of different approaches in WEDM and Cylindrical WEDM (CWEDM) technologies analyzes has shown process parameters which have the biggest influence on material removal rate, surface roughness, and dimension accuracy.
