Design of a Forklift with Telescopic Boom
This paper gives an overview of a design of a forklift with telescopic boom for manipulation with freight weighing up to 3 t and lifting height of up to 4 m. A model of mobile machine intended for computer simulation is presented and an evaluation of influence of disturbance on behaviour and safety of manipulation is derived. Hydraulic and mechanical structure of the machine is designed in accordance with longitudinal and transversal stability norms as well as a system of stability control. Telescopic boom strenght is derived by means of FEM for generated boom positions. The results of trial strain testing approved adequacy of conducted analysis. Load spectrum for structural life of the machine is also derived, which provides additional simulations of structure strenght and rapid testing of durability of vital parts of the machine. Thus, quality guidelines are obtained for a development of a future models' family of multifunctional forklifts with telescopic booms, loading shovel and grapple.
