Renal Perfusion scintigraphy
Renal perfusion scintigraphy is a qualitative and quantitative diagnostic method of analyzing the passage of intravenously applied radiofarmaceuticals through renal vascular system. This nuclear medicine method is used to assess the functional state of the renal transplant, and also when suspecting the weaker renal perfusion due to the renal artery stenosis, or the acute or chronic renal artery embolism. In the paper the role of the technologist in the procedures of preparing the patient and prevention of possible patient, medical staff and diagnostic equipment contamination is pointed out. The equipment necessary to perform the renal perfusion scintography is described and statistical data about the number of tests made during 2007 and 2008 supplied
