Touristic potentials of Medjimurje area

By the beggining of 21.century the economy of Republic Croatia has showed a marked addiction tourism as one of the main strategic developmental factors. Attractive touristic potentials especially were valorizated on coastal region, while potentials of continental Croatia are still been marginalized. In times of a high competetiveness, remaining on the market is only achievable with a heterogeneous offer, that is to say, offering to tourist Experience for Money and Emotion for Money. Basic of tourism developmet in Međimurje depends upon a qualitative space. Its rational usage with achieving maximun of economy profit depends on implementation of space plan. With a meaningfully decorated space with a special accent on rural, recreational, thermal, hunting, transit and eco tourism, it should contribute to touristic identity of Međimurje. Demographic density, geographic location, agricultural developments, ecological conditions, road availability, these are just some of basic elements of tourism development in Međimurje. Already mentioned elements ought to be fit into a general development of surroundings and directed in accordance with human needs. Međimurje county, owing to numerous natural and social potentials, could contain few small touristic regions. Each of them would be directed to other type of offer, but in general they would be a part of one theme. Qualitative infrastructure and vicinity of european market would guarantee a profitable side of this offer. Key point in the development would be establishing rural tourism (indigenous home made products, eco offers, products of small family business, hunting, fishing, cycling roads by the vine road, etc). Thermal and recreative tourism would attract home and foreign tourists of different age groups. As a part of this type of tourism there is a possiblitiy for organisation of school and other sport competitions. Transit, congress, and cultural tourism would be attached to the city Čakovec. Congress form of tourism would attract business people from surrounding areas. Through study works and panel discussions there have been establsihed drawbacks and advantages, ideas and suggestions, as well as visions of a future development of tourism on the basis of available potentials. Their realization depends upon numerous trained human resources. Still, realization is only possible if there is a tourism logistic and marketing strategy. As a result of that, for a touristic development of Međimurje it is essential local politic impuls which would close already started circle of tourism development.
